Pang Pu

     Pang Pu is renowned Chinese contemporary historian and international scholar born in Huaiyin county of Jiangsu province in October, 1928. He graduated from Renmin University of China with Master’s degree in 1954. He once served as the editor-in-chief of History Research, Chinese representative of international editorial committee of Science and Culture Development History of Human Beings, director of International Bamboo Slips and Silk Research Center, honorary department member of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, first-grade professor of Shandong University and so on. Mr. Pang Pu has great learning with a broad mind, during the sixty years of his academic career, he was indifferent to fame and wealth, cultivated morality and gave lectures, studied assiduously with the courage to bring forth new ideas, and made extraordinary achievements in many fields such as history, philosophy, bamboo slips and silk study, astronomy and calendar. He wrote and published Dividing One into Three—Making Textual Criticism of Chinese Traditional Thoughts, Research on Gongsun Long, Research on the Confucian Dialectics, Annotation and Research of the Bamboo-Slip Version of Wuxing, Collection of Meditation, Lang You Ji and so on. Mr. Pang Pu spent over 30 years in Confucianism and obtained a lot of accomplishments. In 1977, Mr. Pang Pu published the article of the Mawangdui Silk Texts Solved the Puzzle of Zisi and Mencius’s Theory on Wuxing, which not only solved the problem of what Wuxing in Zisi and Mencius’ theory is that has bothered the scholars for over two thousand years, but also the first Chinese important academic paper after the cultural revolution. In the later bamboo slips and silk Confucian document study, Mr. Pang Pu continued to devote massive passion and energy to propose the founding of International Bamboo Slips and Silk Research Center, started and managed “Bamboo Slips and Silk Research” website, shouldered the leading role. In addition, Mr. Pang Pu has been studying the Confucian dialectics in the long term, putting up the renowned theory of “dividing one into three”, which is the trait of Chinese thought and culture, the essence of Chinese thinking method. Mr. Pang Pu has a deep sympathy and respect to our national historical culture. He not only made great achievements in study and innovation, but also expressed his views clearly in elegant style. Mr. Pang Pu is a scholar who could narrate the thought and culture of our nation in our own language.

International Confucian Association

     International Confucian Association is an international organization jointly started by the Confucianism-related institutes and individuals from China, Japan, U.S.A., Germany, Singapore, Vietnam, Taiwan and Hong Kong in Beijing on October 5th, 1994. The purpose is to study Confucianism, inherit the essence of Confucianism and carry forward the Confucian spirit, in order to promote the freedom, equality, peace, development and prosperity.
     Since its foundation, it has made active efforts for Confucianism study and spread, the chief business includes organizing the commemoration of Confucius’ birthday and international Confucianism symposium, putting up the systematic idea of researching and spreading Confucianism, devising, organizing and writing the Confucian works, actively organizing the Confucian new data research, sponsoring or taking part in preparing for the small-scale Confucianism symposium, editing and publishing the collected periodical of International Confucianism Research, receiving the visiting scholars, arranging the academic exchanges, subsidizing the Confucianism-related academic activities and so on. Through constant efforts of a dozen of years, International Confucian Association won extensive trust and support, with its members and directors covering over 30 countries and regions all over the world, made outstanding contribution and extraordinary achievements in spreading Confucianism, enlarging the influence of Confucianism, promoting
Confucianism research and exchange, strengthening the cooperation and friendship among the global scholars, and became the authoritative and influential international Confucianism academic organization.
