Recently, the exhibition “Myths & Legends of China: The Ages of Chaos and Heroes” has opened at the China Art Museum (Shanghai Art Museum). The exhibition brought together the concerted efforts of the literary, artistic, and social science communities, as well as the press in Shanghai and across China. After seven years of systematic research and compilation, the exhibition displayed 172 literary and artistic works and outstanding academic outcomes, covering the fields of fine arts, calligraphy and seal carving, literature, opera, film, television, radio, academic publication and so on.

　　This is the first major cultural project in China based on creation myths, fully demonstrating Shanghai’s academic advantages as a major research center of Chinese mythology and in literary and artistic creation. Over the following month, all the project outcomes will be showcased through performances, exhibitions, broadcasts and lectures in Shanghai. This is a significant effort to act upon the commitment made in the Report of the 20th National Congress of the CPC of “building cultural confidence and strength and securing new successes in developing socialist culture”, and to explore the origins of Chinese civilization and carry forward fine traditional culture.
