On June 27th, the "Chinese Bridge" Club in London was unveiled during the 21st "Chinese Bridge" Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign College Students in UK. Zheng Zeguang, Chinese Ambassador to the UK; Michael Spence, President of University College London; Chris Hazzard, Member of Congress, UK; and Alastair Fitt, Principal of Oxford Brookes University, attended the unveiling ceremony.

Zheng Zeguang expressed his hope that in the process of learning Chinese, Chinese language learners would together appreciate the beauty of the Chinese language, develop the road of Sino-British cooperation, and build a bridge of friendship between China and Britain. With the language as a link, they would make more Chinese friends and learn more about China, so as to build a more solid bridge to enhance mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples.

Michael Spence said that nowadays it is an important period for people from all over the world to understand each other, and "Chinese Bridge" provides young people with the opportunity to master foreign languages and learn about other countries' cultures, thus promoting their friendly relations.

150 people attended the ceremony on site, covering representatives from the British Council, the British Association of University Presidents, and teachers and students from universities, secondary and primary schools in the UK. More than 800 people, including family and friends of the "Chinese Bridge" contestants and Chinese language fans, witnessed and participated in the unveiling ceremony online through the Internet.

Since its establishment in 2002, the "Chinese Bridge" brand has been dedicated to deepening people-to-people and cultural exchanges between China and various countries and enhancing friendship among peoples. Over the past 20 years, nearly 10,000 colorful and exciting cultural exchange programs have been held, attracting more than 1.5 million people in over 160 countries. Therefore, the "Chinese Bridge" becomes a "cultural bridge, friendship bridge and spiritual bridge" for people-to-people contact between China and other countries, and the "Chinese Bridge" series of Chinese proficiency competitions is known as the global Chinese "Olympics". In order to further strengthen the relationship between the participants of the "Chinese Bridge" program and to enhance the communication between Chinese language learners and fans around the world, the Center for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC) launched the "Chinese Bridge" club program in 2011 and has established 17 "Chinese Bridge" clubs in 15 countries.

"Chinese Bridge" Club in London will build a communication platform for nearly 200,000 Chinese language learners across the UK, and continue to organize a variety of Chinese language and culture exchange activities. With language as a bond, "Chinese Bridge" Club in London will be committed to promoting people-to-people contact between the two countries and attracting more and more Chinese language fans to join it.
