Shandong Issues the 14th Five-Year Plan of Nishan World Cent

     On April 13, Information Office of Shandong Provincial Government held a press conference to interpret the 14th Five-Year Plan of Nishan World Center for Confucian Studies for Inheritance and Development of Confucianism. Guo Chengyan, Party Secretary and Deputy Director-General of the Nishan World Center for Confucian Studies (Secretariat of China Confucius Foundation) attended the press conference and made introductions.

  Guo Chengyan introduced that the Publicity Department of the CPC Shandong Provincial Committee and the Nishan World Center for Confucian Studies jointly issued the 14th Five-Year Plan of Nishan World Center for Confucian Studies for Inheritance and Development of Confucianism, aiming to put in practice instructions of General-Secretary Xi Jinping on passing on the fine traditional Chinese culture and requirements on work in Shandong. It will drive Shandong to take the lead in achieving the integration of Marxism with national realities in China and the fine traditional Chinese culture, and promoting the creative transformation and development of the fine traditional Chinese culture. It will also accelerate the establishment of a world center for Confucian studies with global influence, help to promote exchanges and mutual learning among world civilizations, and contribute to the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.

  The Plan is a key document for the Nishan World Center for Confucian Studies to promote the fine traditional Chinese culture and the inheritance and development of Confucianism during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period. It includes three major parts: general requirements, main tasks and specific measures, and safeguard measures. Guo Chengyan introduced that the Plan highlights new situations and new tasks based on the actual situation of Shandong, underscores the characteristics and advantages of Shandong, and at the same time follows a systemic concept and focuses on innovation-driven development."

  According to the Plan, during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, efforts will be focused on building a highland for gathering and training experts on Confucian studies, for world Confucianism research, for the popularization and promotion of Confucianism, for international exchanges and dissemination of Confucianism, and promoting the development of Nishan World Center for Confucian Studies itself. Steps will be taken to strengthen the development of the joint graduate school, implement academic improvement project and a series of talent training projects, promote the implementation of special research programs, compile and publish the "Nishan Series of Books", put in place "Nishan Library", make new strides in Nishan periodicals, set up Nishan Lecture Hall, continue to ensure the success of the "Nishan Forum on World Civilizations", strengthen international exchanges and dissemination of Confucianism, adding up to 24 tasks and measures. At the same time, attention will be focused on stepping up academic research and application of research achievements, and ensure that Confucian studies play a bigger role in providing social services and facilitating the development of the cultural sector.
