On April 21st, the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in French Republic held the "2022 Paris International Chinese Language Day" event at the Chinese Cultural Center in Paris to celebrate the 13th United Nations Chinese Language Day.

More than 200 Chinese and French guests attended the event. Lu Shaye, Chinese Ambassador to France, said in his speech that there are two reasons for holding this celebration event. One is to continue the tradition, to remember the great contribution of Cangjie, the creator of Chinese characters, and to feel the long history and profoundness of Chinese language and Chinese culture; the second is to promote the exchange and integration of different languages and cultures such as China and France, and enhance the harmonious coexistence of different ethnic groups and countries.

Lu Shaye said that in terms of Chinese language teaching, France is a country in Europe early to set up Chinese language education, offer Chinese language courses, incorporate Chinese language into the national education system, and formulate teaching syllabuses by the state. Chinese language education not only flourished in the French basic education stage, but also became a popular major in French higher education. The Confucius Institutes and Confucius Classrooms established in France have become important platforms for French people to learn Chinese language and culture and understand contemporary China.

During the event, the winner list of the "2022 Original Chinese Tristich Poems Competition" was also announced on the spot. Lu Shaye and other guests presented awards to the winners. With the theme of "Spring", the competition was held to welcome the UN Chinese Language Day. After expert review, 27 outstanding works won awards and were made onto exhibition boards and displayed on site.

On the same day, painting performances, Guqin performances, tea art, opera performances, etc. were also arranged at the event site. The guests stopped to appreciate and participated in the on-site interaction.
