On April 16th, 2022, the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the State of Eritrea held the celebration event for "International Chinese Language Day" with the theme "Chinese Language: Together for a Bright Future" at the National Museum of Eritrea. Cai Ge, Chinese Ambassador to Eritrea; Peter Ross, Acting Minister of Education of Eritrea; Ms. Amakobe Sande, the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Eritrea; and officials of the Eritrean Culture and Sports Commission, Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Research Institute, principals of universities and secondary schools, representatives of teachers and students, media reporters, and representatives of the Chinese medical team in Eritrea and Chinese-funded enterprises attended.

Cai Ge said in his speech that April 20th, 2022, is the 13th UN "Chinese Language Day", and it is also one of the twenty-four solar terms "Grain Rain" and the day when the legendary Cang Jie created Chinese characters, which has great commemorative significance. Chinese with Chinese characters as its mode of writing is not only the crystallization of the wisdom of the Chinese nation, but also the commonwealth of all mankind. With the continuous improvement of China's comprehensive national strength and international influence, the popularity of learning Chinese continues to rise around the world. Eritrea's Chinese language teaching and competition activities have been carried out in a wonderful and lively fashion, and have become an important part of the cultural and educational cooperation between the two countries that has built a bridge of friendship between people's hearts and mutual learning between civilizations. Taking the establishment of the strategic partnership between China and Eritrea as a new impetus, the Chinese Embassy will work closely with brother departments in Eritrea to push the cultural and educational cooperation between the two countries to a higher level, deepen the friendship between the two peoples and work together for a bright future.

Joseph, Director of the National Museum of Ecuador, introduced the history of exchange between Eritrea and China in his speech. He spoke positively of the Chinese language teaching activities and the achievements of cultural exchanges between the two countries.

Liu Liyin, Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute at the Eritrea Higher Education and Research Institute, and Dr. Liu Quan, gave lectures on "Chinese Cultural Communication and Exchange in Eritrea" and "Chinese Language Teaching in Eritrea" respectively.

Cai Ge accompanied the guests and offered explanations on a visit to the "Chinese Culture Photo Exhibition". The colorful Chinese culture with its abundance of heritage aroused the strong interest in the guests. Finally, Cai Ge and the guests visited the exhibits of the National Museum of Eritrea and discussed the cultural exchanges and mutual learning between China and Eritrea.
