     The Institute of Archaeology of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences announced "New Archaeological Discoveries in China in 2021" in Beijing on March 18th. 6 archaeological projects, namely Piluo Paleolithic Ruins in Daocheng County of Sichuan Province, Huangshan Neolithic Ruins in Nanyang City of Henan Province, Shang Dynasty Ruins in Sanxingdui, Guanghan City of Sichuan Province, Warring States Tombs in Guozi Mountain in Zhangshu City of Jiangxi Province, Zhengjiahu Qin and Han Dynasty Cemetery of Warring States Period in Yunmeng County of Hubei Province, Tuyuhun Royal Tombs of the Tang Dynasty in Wuwei City of Gansu Province were included in the list.

  Among the six discoveries selected this time, the Piluo Paleolithic Ruins is a rarely-seen super-large Paleolithic site at home and abroad; the Huangshan Ruins is a central settlement of Yangshao Culture, Qujialing Culture, and Shijiahe Culture with distinctive jade artifacts; newly discovered remains and relics at the Sanxingdui Shang Dynasty Ruins have promoted the research on the sacrificial etiquette and sacrificial system of the ancient Shu civilization; the Guozishan Tomb is the largest tomb of the Eastern Zhou Dynasty in Jiangxi so far; a number of precious written materials were unearthed in Zhengjiahu Qin and Han Dynasty Cemetery of Warring States Period; the Tuyuhun Royal Tombs showed the history that the Tuyuhun people gradually integrated into the Chinese civilization in the nearly 100 years after they were included under the jurisdiction of the Tang Dynasty.

  Apart from the above 6 discoveries, another 6 projects including Shi'ao Neolithic Rice Field Ruins in Yuyao City of Zhejiang Province were selected as shortlisted projects.(cited from chinakongzi.org, source from Xinhua News Agency
