Confucius Research Institute at Qufu in the drizzle combines the historic culture with the modern literature perfectly. The first World Confucian Conference was opened here. Over 172 experts and scholar of 86 Confucian organizations from 22 countries and regions such as the mainland of China, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, South Korea, France, Singapore, Malaysia, U.S.A, France, Britian, Belgium, Denmark, Australia and so on gathered here to address speeches or make discussion on the historic research, elucidation in contemporary times, contemporary value and spread over the world.
     During the opening ceremony, the deputy minister of Ministery of Culture Zhou Heping pointed out that Confucianism is the valueable spiritual treasure contributed to human beings by Chinese nation. Confucius is a cultural sage. In the past long history, Confucianism maintained its characteristics of benevolence and harmony, and embodies the cultural identities of various times. It made important contribution to the continuation of world civilization through its open development. The doctrines of Confucianism make people open-minded and highly-aspired. The Confucianism research is beneficial to the dialogue between the tradition and the modern, the exchange between eastern civilization and western civilization.
     The World Confucian Conference is an international Confucian event co-sponsored by Ministry of Culture of the People’s Republic of China and People’s Government of Shandong Province and organized by Chinese National Academy of Arts, Shandong Provincial Department of Culture, China Confucius Foundation, International Confucian Association, People’s Government of Ji’ning City and Chinese Confucius Research Institute.
     The purpose is to inherit and popularize the excellent traditional culture of China, to build an international high level platform for Confucianism research and exchange in order to promote international Confucianism research and exchange, explore the value and significance of Confucianism, encourage cross-regional, cross-disciplinary and cross-industry Confucian research, strengthen the close contact among domestic and overseas experts, scholars and Confucian research organizations (groups), enhance the dialogue and exchanges among different civilizations and promote the peace, harmony and development of human society.
