On March 12th, Liu Xinghua, head of the legacy project of the Beijing Winter Olympics Organizing Committee, introduced at a press conference that all venues for the Beijing Winter Olympics and Winter Paralympics will be open to the public after the games.

Liu Xinghua said that some venues of the Yanqing National Alpine Ski Center will continue to hold high-level alpine skiing events and function as training bases for professional teams. Some areas will also be open to the public.

The Beijing Winter Olympics Organizing Committee has attached great importance to legacy of the game since preparations started. In terms of promoting the popularization and development of ice and snow sports for the disabled, the number of participants in the snow and ice sports season for the disabled has grown from about 10,000 people in 2016 to more than 300,000 people in a single season today.

The legacy is not confined in sports. Thanks to the holding of the Winter Paralympics, the barrier-free environment in Beijing, Zhangjiakou and other places has been greatly improved. The Winter Paralympics also promoted the development of an inclusive society. Various publicity activities were carried out on such occasions as the National Day of the Disabled, which has facilitated disabled people to participate in social life and share in the fruits of social development. In recent years, the whole society has better understood, respected and helped the disabled, and the sense of gain, happiness and security of the disabled has been continuously improved. (cited from chinakongzi.org, source from Xinhuanet.com)
