2021 Online Training for Teachers of the Core Course "Second

     On November 27, the Online Training for Teachers of the Core Course "Second Language Acquisition" for Degrees in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages was held successfully. This one-day training was organized by the Secretariat of the Master of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages (MTCSOL) Education Supervisory Committee (hereinafter referred to as "MTCSOL Education Supervisory Committee") and hosted by the School of Chinese as a Second Language at Peking University. Twelve experts from Peking University, Nanjing University, Beijing Language and Culture University, Shanghai International Studies University, Northeast Normal University and Northwest Normal University were invited as lecturers. Nearly 220 full-time teachers of the "Second Language Acquisition" course in the field of MTCSOL education, from 149 postgraduate training colleges and universities, participated in the training.
     Professor Zhao Yang, a member of the MTCSOL Education Supervisory Committee and Dean of the School of Chinese as a Second Language at Peking University, said in his opening speech that "Second Language Acquisition" is one of the core courses of MTCSOL, and that full-time teachers of the course should continuously increase their theoretical research and practical skills, improve their professional teaching level, and work hard to establish a teaching community for "Second Language Acquisition".
     The training is carried out by combing two formats: theme lectures by experts and experience sharing by the lead teachers. It combines theory and practice to inspire participants from the top-level design perspective of the course, the content of the lectures, and the syllabus, thereby providing them with valuable experience. The training participants responded positively, discussed deeply, and expressed that they had benefited a lot from the professional and concise training, and hoped to have more opportunities to communicate with their peers in the future to jointly promote professional development.
     In the future, the Secretariat of the MTCSOL Education Supervisory Committee will continue to increase the organization of core curriculum teacher training, teaching seminars, academic exchanges and case-based construction, comprehensively enhancing the height, depth, breadth and precision of MTCSOL professional teaching work and promoting the sustainable and high-quality development of international Chinese language education.
