2021 Online Training Course for Thai Local Chinese Teachers, which was jointly organized by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC) and the Thai Ministry of Education, started successfully on November 27. It's aimed at further helping Thai local Chinese teachers improve their abilities of teaching Chinese and employing modern information technology, and to create a new developing and training system for Thai native Chinese teachers in primary and secondary schools. Prof. Ma Jianfei, Director-General of CLEC; Mr. Amporn pinasa, Secretary General of Basic Education Commission of the Ministry of Education of Thailand; Mr. Prapat Ratanarun, Deputy Secretary General of Civil Education Commission of the Ministry of Education of Thailand; and Mr. Liu Li, President of Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU), attended it and delivered speeches. More than 2,000 local Chinese teachers from primary and secondary schools in Thailand gathered in the "cloud" to attend the opening ceremony.
Prof. Ma Jianfei, Director-General of CLEC, pointed out that CLEC attaches great importance to the development of Chinese language teaching in Thailand, and has always maintained close cooperation with the Thai Ministry of Education. Therefore, they first try out the key projects of international Chinese language education in Thailand. As the beginning of building a Chinese teacher developing and training system for primary and secondary schools in Thailand, this training event is the largest-scale one in Thailand over the years and will further contribute to the high-quality development of Chinese language teaching in Thailand and contribute to Sino-Thai friendship.
According to Mr. Amporn pinasa, Thai enthusiasm for learning Chinese runs unprecedentedly high and Chinese has become the second most spoken foreign language. The training fully combines teaching practice and self-improvement, and Mr. Amporn pinasa believes that the teachers will benefit greatly and better promote Chinese language teaching in Thailand, so that more Thai students will have the opportunity to learn Chinese.
Mr. Prapat Ratanarun thinks that this project will promote Chinese language teaching in schools of Thai Civil Education Commission to be in line with the international standard of Chinese language teaching. He sincerely hopes that all teachers will gain more knowledge from the experts' lectures and strive to improve themselves to pass on the knowledge they have learned better and become the backbone of Chinese language teaching.
Mr. Liu Li said that the hours of the participants will be included in the "credit bank" system of Beijing Language and Culture University to promote the upgrading of local Chinese teachers in Thailand. BLCU is ready to work with CLEC and the Thai Ministry of Education to focus on the systematic teachers developing and training of "Online Training + Credit Bank + Degree Progression", training excellent teachers for Chinese language teaching in Thailand.
The training was jointly organized by Basic Education Commission and the Civil Education Commission of the Thai Ministry of Education, and the CLEC-Bangkok Center, with the support of Beijing Language and Culture University. The six-week training focuses on the characteristics and development needs of local Chinese language teaching in Thailand. Besides, it relies on modern technology to provide diversified training such as diagnostic lectures, microteaching practice reviews, teaching observation and demonstration to promote the high-quality development of Chinese language teaching in Thailand.
