On September 6, the opening ceremony of the 2021 Leadership Training Course for Principals of Secondary School in Indonesia was held online. Zhao Guocheng, Deputy General-Director of the Center for Language Education and Cooperation; Djauhari Oratmangun, Indonesian Ambassador to China; Mr. Odo RM Manuhutu, Deputy Minister for Coordinating Manpower of the Ministry of Maritime and Investment; Dr. Luizah F. Saidi, M.Pd, Head of Language Center of Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology; and Prof. Siswantoyo, M.Kes., AIFO, President of Yogyakarta State University, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches.
In his speech, Zhao Guocheng pointed out that education exchange is the foundation of  cultural and educational exchanges, and language learning is the bond of people-to-people communication. The Center for Language Education and Cooperation is well-prepared to further strengthen cooperation with the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture, the Ministry of Human Resources, and various schools and institutions at all levels to continue to support the development of Chinese language education in Indonesia, and to provide more focused, practical and efficient assistance to Indonesian people in learning Chinese. We hope that this training will help the principals better understand China, its language and culture, and the latest changes in Chinese education, and lay a more solid foundation for future cooperation.
Djauhari Oratmangun said that as China's "the Belt and Road Initiatives" dovetail with Indonesia's "Poros Maritim Dunia, PMD" strategy, relations between the two countries have deepened. Meanwhile, cooperation in economy, education and talent training has been strengthened. The Center for Language Education and Cooperation is an important partner of Indonesia and has provided strong support to Indonesia's human resource development through scholarships and training for local Chinese language teachers in recent years. He said that he hopes the participating principals will value the rare opportunity and make efforts to help Indonesian students better understand China in the future so that they can cooperate more extensively with China.
Mr. Odo RM Manuhutu stated that organizing this training event during the epidemic is very meaningful, as through an online method such as this it can help Indonesian principals understand China and the cultural similarities and differences between China and Indonesia more deeply, and acquire future-oriented knowledge, improve their problem-solving skills, and explore more opportunities for cooperation. The Ministry of Human Resources of Indonesia hopes to strengthen cooperation with the Center for Language Education and Cooperation in the field of vocational education and Chinese language education in the future, and to contribute to cultural and educational exchanges between the two countries.
Dr. Luizah F. Saidi, M.Pd, praised the training as a new starting point for cooperation with the Center for Language Education and Cooperation and thanked all sides for their efforts in smoothly organizing the training, believing that the participating principals would be able to gain a lot from meeting together to learn and communicate.
Prof. Siswantoyo, M.Kes., AIFO, expressed his hope that the principals would study hard, improve themselves and their institutions through the training, and contribute to a richer cooperation between the two countries in the future.
This leadership training course for principals of Indonesian secondary school is jointly organized by the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture, the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Beijing and the Center for Language Education and Cooperation. With the support of the ASEAN-China Center and the Indonesian Ministry of Human Resources, the 10-day training will be conducted online for more than 80 Indonesian secondary school principals and education officials, covering leadership improvement, education research and Chinese language and culture.  (Information Sources:Center for Language Education and Cooperation)
