     The 20th "Chinese Bridge"- Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign College Students (Overseas Preliminary) in Laos concluded on the 19th in Vientiane, the capital of Laos. Ten competitors from the Faculty of Arts of the National University of Laos, the Confucius Institute and Lao Soochow University participated.
     In the speech session, the competitors focused on the theme of "One World, One Family" and elaborated on the importance of building the community with shared future for mankind to maintain world peace and development and to deal with global challenges like the epidemic. The competitors also demonstrated their talents including singing Chinese songs, reciting poems and playing national instruments. Finally, Viengnakhone VONGVIXAI, a senior student from the Faculty of Arts of the National University of Laos, won the first place and will represent Laos to participate in the "Chinese Bridge" Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign College Students.

     Houngphet Chanthavong, Vice President of the National University of Laos said that the annual "Chinese Bridge" competition provides an important platform for Lao students to experience Chinese culture and understand China, and has now developed into a bridge of friendship, exchange and hope. He encouraged the participants to be messengers of friendship between the two countries and make greater contributions to the promotion of China-Laos comprehensive strategic partnership and the Sino-Laos community with shared future.

     The competition was hosted by the Chinese Embassy in Laos and organized by the Confucius Institute of the National University of Laos, with representatives from the Chinese Embassy in Laos and heads of school faculties in attendance.
