On March 13th, the debut of “the Deputies’ Visit to Renming University of China” activity was held at the lecture hall of Renming University of China. The member of the 13th CPPCC and dean of Confucius Research Institute researcher Yang Chaoming served as guest speaker by invitation, and lectured on “how far is Confucius from us?”
Before the activity, vice president of Renming University He Yaomin met Yang Chaoming, and communicated on such issues as cultural spread and talent training.
Around the theme of “how far is Confucius from us”, Yang Chaoming interpreted Confucius’ Confucianism and its modernity, focused on the internal logic and different phases of Confucianism, which deepened the students’ understanding of Chinese traditional culture.
After the lecture, Yang Chaoming discussed Confucius’ Confucianism and cultural confidence with the students, and answered their questions on “how the public grasp confucianism”, “the source of Confucianism”, “whether the Golden Mean contradicts with the need of modern society”.
After the lecture, the students agreed that this lecture was greatly inspiring, drew Confucius’ Confucianism closer, formed a clearer and more thorough understanding of cultural confidence in the new era, and further comprehended the important role of the traditional culture in modern socialism power construction in the new era.
This activity was inaugurated in 1992, sponsored by Youth League Committee of the university and organized the Graduate Students Union, held during the two national conferences annually.
