From November 3rd to 5th, 2017, the First Confucian Culture Forum: the symposium of cultural Confucianism & Confucian culture and philosophy was held in Jining. The scholar of Confucius Research Insitute Researcher Qi Jinjiang attended the forum by invitation, submitted the paper of Confucian Classic: On Confucius’ Supreme Achivement in Chunqiu Studies and gave a speech during the symposium.
This forum was jointly sponsored by the Culture Institute of Shandong Acadmey of Social Sciences, Advanced Institute of Shandong University, Qilu Culture Research Institute of Shandong Province, Confucianism Institute of Chungnam National University of South Korea, Chinese Traditional Culture College of Xiamen University, and organized by Culture Institute of Shandong Acadmey of Social Sciences. 67 scholars from Tsinghua University, Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shandong University, Shandong Normal University and Chungnam National University of South Korea took part in the forum and submitted 48 papers. The participants made a two-day discussion around the topics of cultural Confucianism, life Confucianism, social Confucianism, the modern transformation of Confucianism, Confucianism and cultivation, Confucianism and art and so on. In addition, trans-disciplinary discussion between culture and art was made during the forum.
As is known, “cultural Confucianism” is a new notion put up in 21st century. For a long time, the ideology of Confucianism and cultural Confucianism has been ignored, severely impeding the exploration of Confucian value and the explanation of its connotation. This forum will promote the further exploration and elucidation of the meaning, characteristics, development and function and significance of cultural ideology, philosophy of Confucianism and cultural Confucianism, strengthening the spiritual resource of Confucian culture, building the new-form Confucianism and realizing the modern inheritance, transforming, innovation and development of Confucianism.
